The surprise attack on Pearl Harbor had such a dynamic effect that it immediately shifted the public opinion from "isolationist neutrality" to "determined intervention." Following the events of Pearl Harbor, the citizens the United States held many contrasting opinions in regards to Japanese Americans. Hawaii, for example, called for just treatment of the Japanese. General Delos Emmons, military governor of Hawaii, and the president of the Honolulu Chamber of Commerce were unwilling to permit the Japanese's mass evacuation. They stated that their internment would not only annihilate their labor force, but would also destroy the economy of the islands. Hawaii asserted this viewpoint because of a long history of interaction with the Japanese in the islands. On the other hand, leaders from the mainland argued that the potential saboteurs must be evacuated. Lieutenant General John L. DeWitt, head of the Western Defense Command, claimed a different opinion than Emmons' in Hawaii. DeWitt wanted to be granted the power to exclude Japanese aliens, as well as Japanese Americans from restricted areas. Beginning on January 5, 14, the resentment against the Japanese people was being portrayed by the public in newspapers and magazines. The Japanese who were regarded as "loyal" had played an important part in the success of Japanese attacks. The resentment against the Japanese grew as patriotic organizations, such as the California Department of the American Legion, campaigned for Japanese removal. Major General Joseph Stilwell noticed that the claim of military necessity for mass evacuation was based primarily upon "public and political pressure," which leads to Roosevelt's Executive Order 066 of 14. This order states that the "successful prosecution of the war requires every possible protection against espionage and sabotage to national defense material, premises, and utilities." One of the most responsible for the internment of Japanese Americans was Assistant Secretary of War John J. McCloy. He agreed with DeWitt's military assessments regarding the need for incarceration of Japanese Americans to support the excuse of military necessity. McCloy, along with state and local politicians, fully approved of the Executive Order. Many local patriotic groups, newspapers and politicians voted for the new order and began to "jump on the bandwagon calling for Japanese American removal." Because of Roosevelt's executive order, there were Japanese who challenged the United States, as in the case of Gordon Hirabayashi, a student at the University of Washington who had been imprisoned because he refused to obey a curfew imposed by General DeWitt and failed to report to an assembly center for evacuation. In June 14, Judge Lloyd Black denied Hirabayashi's challenge that the orders presented a case of unlawful racial discrimination. Black then told the jurors that they were "instructed to return a finding of guilty." The jurors returned within ten minutes, and Hirabayashi was sentenced to three months in jail, in addition to the five months he has already served. The American public felt that in case of an invasion "there would be among [the Japanese Americans] a number of persons who might assist the enemy." Another internment case involves a Nisei, born in Oakland, California, Toyosaburo Korematsu. After Roosevelt signed the Executive Order, Korematsu assumed an identity as a person of Spanish Hawaiian descent. He was recognized and arrested for violating Order 066. Korematsu was tried on September 8, 14 and sentenced to five years of probation. The case was presented to the Supreme Court in 144, where in a split decision ruled against Korematsu. Justice Frank Murphy called the evacuation order a "legalization of racism." In both cases, the Supreme Court "upheld the legality of the removal because of the clear and present danger" which threatened the nation. Most of the Hawaiians did not agree with the Supreme Court's decision, but most of Americans in the mainland supported the verdict of the internment cases.

Essay on "On First Looking into

Chapman's Homer"

Through reading, the reader can travel to different scenarios without moving from where he is. In this essay, we are going to explore form, subject matter, and technical resources that help to convey the theme, and, at the same time, help us to achieve travelling through reading.

Write my Essay on chapman cheap

In this sonnet, the author is trying to say that he is able to travel by reading and using his imagination. He do this in the first quatrain. This Petrarchan sonnet is divided in and octet and a sestet and the rhymes are ABBA ABBA CDCDCD.

In the octet, the author describes where the persona has been, and makes reference to some poets like Homer and Chapman. In the sestet he describes how he feels when he imagines a place, and he compares himself with different people. For example "....like some watchers of the skies/When a new planet swims into his ken", or when he says "...like stout Cortez, when with eagle eyes/He star'd at the Pacific..." . Here we can see that he feel like Cortez or like atronomers, very excited of their discovery.

Only once a metaphor is used "(...)watcher of the skies(...)" meaning astronomers. The only figures of speech apart from metaphor is mental landscape, which help us to realise how he feels when he reads and travel through differnet parts, although he has never been in contact with that places "(...)Yet never did I breathe its pure serene(...)".

As a conclusion, we can say that all the elements that Keats uses in this poem, show us how exciting can be reading in order to discover new places. Although we are not there, we are able if we want, the only thing we need is imagination and a good text.

In the poem "Advice to My Son" the author Peter Meinke uses the literary device of symbolism to express ideas he would like his son to evaluate against life's future events. The meaning of symbolism is when one thing represents another thing or idea. This is used by the writer to represent his ways of living life, through his word choices. This poem is about a father's advice to guide his son through life and day to day experiences. In his poem, "Advice to My Son," Peter Meinke says

The trick is, to live your days as if each one may be your last

(for they go fast, and young men lose their lives

In strange and unimaginable ways)

But at the same time, plan long range

(For they go slow; if you survive…

What the author means by this is enjoy each day as if it were your last because they go by quickly, but also plan for tomorrow because it will still arrive. Make the best out of life, because you only get one chance at it and it's what you make of it that counts.

The author uses symbolism in the following stanza

To be specific, between the peony and the rose

plant squash and spinach, turnips and tomatoes;

beauty is nectar

and nectar, in a desert, saves-

but the stomach craves stronger sustenance

than the honied vine.

The symbolism is being used here to state that, between life and love; take time for the little things like the necessities and the day to day simple things, because you will need them to survive. Although we crave the sweet things in life, the body and soul require more substance from life. This statement stresses the need to be true to your beliefs and moral's.

The statement made by the writer, "Therefore, marry a pretty girl/after seeing her mother," is in reference to his future wife. The son should look not only at the girl he would like to marry, but also look at her mother for this is what she will become and look like in the future.

Peter Meinke uses the words, "speak truth to one man/work with another." In this section of the poem the one man he is referring to is god because he is the one who you will always speak the truth to, and be friends with all the others. This is another part of the symbolism in which he uses his specific word choices to allow his point to be taken.

In the last stanza the author sums up the entire poem with

and always serve bread with your wine.

But, son,

always serve wine.

These are the final words of wisdom for his son they are to be good, and have fun, and make sure he enjoys his life to the fullest, but do not forget to have fun. The bread symbolizes being good and the wine is used to represent having fun. The last sentence is summarizing the whole point of the poem; it is what the poem is about. It's your life make what you want out of it.

Aim My aim is to find out if there is a correlation between the length of the alcohol chain and the amount of energy given off when the alcohol is burnt.

Hypothesis I think that the longer the alcohol chain is, the more energy will be given off. This is because of the previous work we have done in class. We have learnt that the longer the alcohol chain is the more bonds are in the chain. More bonds means more stored energy, energy that will be released when the alcohol is burnt and its bonds broken. Longer alcohol chains will have more bonds to break so when they do break there will be more energy given off.

Apparatus Crucible

Alcohol

Custom Essays on Investigation into the Burning of Alcohols

Calorimeter

Stand

Boss

Clamp

Timer

Rock wool

Water

Measuring tubes

Thermometer

Variables Time allowed to burn

Amount of alcohol burnt

Type of Alcohol

Amount of water used in the calorimeter

Height of can above the flame

• My input variable will be the type of alcohol I decide to burn.

• My output variable will be the energy given off when the alcohol is burnt.

Fait test To make my test fair I will

Keep the amount of alcohol burnt each time the same (mls)

Keep the amount of water in the calorimeter the same each time (0mls (5 mols))

Let each alcohol burn for the same amount of time (1min 0sec's)

Keep the calorimeter at the same height above the crucible (cm)

Method I will put my mls of alcohol into the crucible.

I will then hold the can cms directly above the crucible (using the stand, clamp and boss) with the 0mls (5 mols) of water in it along with the thermometer.

I will measure the starting temperature of the water so I can work out the temperature difference and then light the alcohol.

If the alcohol does not light I will use a bit of rock wool to get it going.

Once the alcohol is lit I will start the timer.

When the timer has reached 0 seconds I will take the crucible out from underneath the can and record the finishing temperature of the water in the can.

By multiplying the temperature rise in degrees by 0 (because of the 0mls of water in the can) and then by 4. (waters specific heat capacity) you can work out how much energy was given off by the alcohol.

Results

Alcohol Time Allowed to Burn Amount of Alcohol Starting temp of water Finishing temp of water Temp difference Energy given off (KJ)

Methanol 0 seconds mls / .065 mols 1 degrees Celsius 6 degrees Celsius 17 degrees Celsius 646

Ethanol 0 seconds mls / .044786 mols 0 degrees Celsius degrees Celsius 1 degrees Celsius 456

Propanol 0 seconds mls / .0 mols 0 degrees Celsius 7 degrees Celsius 7 degrees Celsius 646

Butanol 0 seconds mls / .070707 mols 1 degrees Celsius 5 degrees Celsius 6 degrees Celsius 68

Pentanol 0 seconds mls / .0777 mols 0 degrees Celsius degrees Celsius degrees Celsius 756

Hexanol 0 seconds mls / .01076 mols 1 degrees Celsius 0 degrees Celsius 1 degree Celsius 78

To work out how much energy was given off I multiplied the temperature difference of the water by 0 (because of the 0mls of water in the can) and then multiplied that by 4. (because 4. is waters specific heat capacity). For each alcohol burn I tried to have the can at the same height ( cm's) above the crucible.

Analysis

On the previous page you can see a graph that completely undermines and destroys my prediction. The graph shows a negative correlation which reads as follows; the shorter the alcohol chain is the more energy was given off when it was burnt.

My prediction states that the longer the alcohol chain is the more energy should be given off. I have backed up my prediction with what I consider to be quite a reasonable argument that makes quite obvious sense So why then have the results gone the other way?

I have three possible theories why the results were not as I expected.

• Theory 1 is that I did not repeat my experiment enough times. This means that rogue results went undetected and found there way into my graph giving it its negative correlation.

• Theory is that the can was too high above the crucible. I noticed that the longer the alcohol chain was the smaller it's flame was when it burnt. This meant that heat coming from the smaller flame had more chance to escape into the surrounding air rather than warming up the can. This could possibly explain the results.

• Theory is that the results were completely right and that it was because I set a time limit on how long the alcohols were allowed to burn for meant that the longer alcohol chains were just not given enough time to release their energy. Maybe if I had not set a time limit the results would have created a positive correlation.

I think it is probably a combination of all three of my theories that meant my results gave a negative correlation.

Evaluation and Conclusion On the whole I am quite happy with my method and my results. The results may not have been what I was expecting but as no results are wrong results I have had to try and work round them. The results were, in my opinion, as accurate as I could have made them. I made sure that I did things as carefully and as accurately as possible and I think my results reflect this.

I think that I have explained my results as fully as I can and that I have found out what caused them. I have presented my results in a clear and easy to read way. Having got no anomalous results I do not have any to explain.

If I did this investigation again I would change a number of things. These things include

• Using a brand new can for water each time. I would do this because when I burnt the alcohol it dirtied and blackened the bottom of the can. This may mean that unreliable results are given because having a black base on your can will absorb more heat than a can with a clean shiny base.

• Repeating my experiment times. I would do this to iron out any strange or rogue results.

• Completing the entire practical in one day and in the same room. I would do this so that things like room temperature would affect my experiment less.

• Using the same mass of rock wool each time. I only needed rock wool for two of the alcohols but I think I should have used the same amount of rock wool each time to keep the experiment fair.

• Finding and using an accurate way to place the crucible under my can of water. By doing this it will hopefully mean that the alcohol will heat the water a fully as possible with minimal loss of heat to the surrounding air.

• Lowering the can of water. Looking back I think I should have probably done a preliminary experiment to find out the best height for the can. By lowering the can it will hopefully mean less heat/energy is lost to the surrounding air.

If I were to carry on this experiment in its present state I would probably go back and repeat the practical part again to hopefully give another set of results that I could compare my first with and hopefully get a better idea of what is going on.

Violence From Genes to the Media

According to the National Criminal Justice Reference Service, more than 11 million violent crimes, not including homicide, were committed within the last twenty years in the United States. At this rate, five percent of households in the United States will be a victim of a violent crime by the end of 00. There are many causes of why these violent acts were performed and will be performed. The most common causes of violence in our society are the media, social environment, and genetics.

The first culprit to violence is the media. With new technology, television shows and movies are now able to show violence in a more realistic manner. Television shows, such as The Sopranos, made their success by overexposing violence and leaving nothing to the imagination. Violence is not only captivated in adult programming but also in cartoons and in video games. Even popular music promotes violence to our society. Many bands and artists have been banned from performing in certain cities because of the extent of their violent-natured music. The media depicts violence as acceptable and many are following its footsteps. In recent news, a young boy burned his friend with hot water because he saw it on a television show. Some children have even committed suicide because the lyrics in a song commanded them to do so. With so much violence in the media and it being so accessible to the younger generation, many unnecessary violent crimes have been committed.

The media is not the only cause of violence in our society. Studies have also shown that the environment that you live in also plays a large part with violent crimes. A child surrounded by violence is more likely to perform a violent act than a child that is not. For instance, if a child is living under the conditions of constant abuse, that child is more likely to be abusive himself. Many children that are involved in violent crimes also have family members that have also been implicated in violent crimes. These children live under the impression that violence is a "normal" thing to do. It goes back to the old saying, "monkey see, monkey do". A family that sets an example of violence will only create a child that is violent. Even if the violence is not seen in the home, but a child is witnessing constant violence in its neighboring streets, then that child will also have the tendency to incorporate in violent crimes. Many cities in the United States with a high crime rate are also experiencing a high violent crime rate. This is partially due to the environment that surrounds these individuals. A person's environment affects more than is sometimes realized.

Do my essay on Violence: From Genes to the Media CHEAP !

Genetics also play a role in the development of a child and their violent tendencies. It is possible to remove a child at birth from a violent family and place them is a peaceful, loving home and still have a child that turns to violence. Some researchers have examined the genetics of these individuals and have noticed a common trait that causes them to be violent natured. Psychological factors that are passed down by genetics can make a person act in a violent way, even if they have never been exposed to much violence. Though this theory is still being reviewed and examined, there is still enough evidence that indicates that violence could be in our genetics.

With all this information, many wonder if violence is caused by just one thing in particular. Despite recent efforts from the media to suppress some violence from our children, violent acts are still being performed at alarming rates. Attempts have been made to educate communities with high violent crime rates by explaining to its citizens the negative affects of violence in the society. Yet these cities are still at the top of the charts when it comes to violent crimes. Medical intervention, such as medicine and therapy, have been given to patients in order to reduce their violent tendencies, but even under treatment, some patients are still reacting violently. The causes of violent act are numerous indeed and one justification will not be sufficed to explain all violent reactions. Therefore, the cause of violence may not be defensible by just one reason alone, but with a combination of influences from the media, our environment, and our genes.

Everyday we hear about multimillion dollar corporations taking over small companies. This power differential is what makes it so that the rich continue to get richer while the poor continue to get poorer. Throughout history, and even today it is this greed that corrupts a power figure. It is this bloodsucking, (Osano) that LeAnne Howe writes about in Shell Shaker.

At first Shakbatina's readiness to sacrifice herself for peace is a little shocking. What is it that makes Shakbatina willing to sacrifice her own life? "I will sacrifice myself, knowing that peace will follow between our two tribes" (Howe 4). As the novel progresses we begin to understand that importance of peace and that we must do whatever it takes to create and maintain it. Howe allows the reader to question the correlation between the murders of Red Shoes and Redford McAlester. As a piece of Native American literature, Shell Shaker follows a traditional archetype that explains how the past and present parallel each other. "Do not forget the dead are helping the living" (Howe 171). This similarity between the past and present allows us, as readers to examine our current and future situations in our own lives. In this way, the story of Shell Shaker will always be relevant.

What will it take to overthrow masters of greed? How can we prevent ourselves from succumbing to such greed individually? We must do whatever it takes to establish peace so that power may exist without greed and corruption. Howe uses Shell Shaker as a lesson to all of us that we must work together as a community to create peace.

The Power Of Florence Nightingale

Florence Nightingale was born on May 1, 180. She is most remembered as a pioneer of nursing and a reformer of hospital sanitation methods. She was a victorian women and in the era in which she lived it was almost impossible to gain any recognition as a scholar and an expert in her field. She accomplished this feat with the use of power. The purpose of this paper is to explore the avenues of power that she used in order to cause the changes in nursing that she believed were so important.

When Nightingale was a child, she fought with her mother for the right to study mathmatics. Her mother held firm to the belief that girls were only supposed to study poetry and philosophy, this would give them the background to make a good bride and be able to hold intelligent conversasions at parties. Nightingale fough against this and finally convinced her father to allow her to study mathmatics. When she turned of age, she again shocked her family by enrolling in a nursing program at Kaiserworth, Germany. Most people believed that a nurses role should only be filled by common women and prostitutes. Nighingale made it a personal priority to change this image( Baly,57).

She spent three years in Germany training to become a nurse, after this she recruited a small number of untrained women and took them to a British military hospital in Scutari, where she trained them and taught them her philosophies of nursing. She believed that fresh air, water and sunshine were critical to the recovery of her patients. Efficiant drainage of wounds, cleanliness and a healthy diet were extremely important, in the days when these methods were not taught. She beleived that moving a patients bed to give them a better view was a nurses responsibility, along with the responsibility to provide a healthy diet and to record what was eaten daily. Her emphasis on cleanliness of bed linens and patients was scoffed at by the medical profession but proved to be an innovation for the medical field in the future. She always held nurses responsible for the health of their patients, this included not only cleanliness, but also the environment in which the patients were healing. Noisy hallways and rooms were not allowed. Unruly family members would be asked to leave. She believed that if she changed a patients environment she could eventually bring about changes in the patient( Chitty, 50 ).

Write my Essay on florence nightingale for me

It has often been said that Nightingale refused to accept the germ theory, this theory stated that all illness came directly from germs. Florence Nightingale believed in germs she just added to this theory by explaining that germs were not the only thing that caused illness. Over and over again her letters and essays laid down the law about the sterilization of instruments, in order to kill germs, however, she also believed that the environment of the patient played a crucial part in the healing process and that this factor should never be overlooked.

Sterilization and aseptic technique came slowly to London. In 1886, steam sterilization of dressings was pioneered in Germany and sterile rubber gloves for operations were first used in 180. But as late as 1 there were still surgeons that still performed abdominal surgery " the aniseptic way, dousing bare hands, swabs and instruments with lysoform and often smoking cigarretes while performing surgery"(Cope,168). Nightingale taught her nurses that this method was incorrect and 4

insisted that the nurses under her instruction uses a correct method.

By the time Nightingale composed her polar area diagram she had extensive knowledge in nursing and mathmatics. It was this knowledge that her power in the nursing community was based on. After training in Germany and spending some time nursing the wounded in the Crimean war he had made extensive political contacts and these also played a role in her political power. She used the contacts to no only improve the medical fielsd but also to critsize them. It was her critical nature that made her the enemy of many doctors and medical communities.

After the war Nightingale realized that many soldiers had died not of there original wounds but from nocosomial infections. It was at this time that she decided to use her power to change some things in the medical field. Her political contacts did not always agree with her, especially if her knowledge seemed to upset traditions that were held in the medical field. As explained earlier, she believed that the environment played an essintial role in the body's ability to heal. If an environment was not clean the germs and bacteria would grow and contaminate the body. This was a direct contradiction to the beliefs that were held by the majority of doctors(Goldie,74).

Nightingale founded the first school of nursing that based it's ideas and education on her methods. It was in this way that her knowledge and power had a major influence on nurses everywhere. Most nursing schools are based on her model and subsequently hold on to her beliefs that environment plays such a huge role in the body's healing abilities. Time and time again the medical community tried to hush Nightingale, but through her

5 political contacts she was able to make her ideas known.

Her mathmatics abilities provided her the knowledge to compose the first statistical analysis of the medical community. In her Polar- area diagram, she meticulosly plotted all deaths resulting form nocosomial infection. It was officially known as the Diagram of the causes of Mortality in the Army in the East. It showed that most of the deaths of British soldiers in the Crimean war died of sickness rather than wounds suffered on the battle field. It also showed that the death rate was higher in the first year of the war, than after the sanitary commisioners changed their policies and gave inspections to improve hygiene in the camps and in the hospitals(Smith,1).

The government would not allow her to publish he most damning statistics which showed that hospital conditions were the main cause of death, but through her political contats she was allowed to publish the diagram. She tried to support her case for better hygine by using the published army figures to show that the death rate decreased after the sanitary commision cleaned up the hospitals. However, her opponents claimed that the reduction in the death rate resulted from other changes that were made at the same time(Smith,158).

Florence Nightingale's knowledge and power in the medical field changed the way nursing is done today. Her political influence and power were directly based on her knowledge and experience of the subject. Based on a forbidden love, Mississippi Massala is a film that deals with the reoccurring issue of interracial relationships. The twist in this movie is that the two main characters, Demetrius and Mina, were both minorities- he was African American and she was Indian. Throughout the plot Mina becomes a woman and learns to stand up for what she believes in. Over all I think that it was a good movie considering the plot, the characters and other details.

Ergonomics And Anthropometrics

Ergonomics-

Is a study of people and the interaction with the environment in which they work. Studying ergonomics helps to improve an environment so that people can work in comfort using the smallest amount of energy. This is achieved using measurements of movement or space (e.g. Arm length or arm swing)

Two important aspects of ergonomics are anthropometrics an anatomy and movement. Taking these into account when designing should help to produce items, which are easy to use, easy to operate correctly and efficiently.

Custom writing service can write essays on ERGONOMICS AND ANTHROPOMETRICS

Research has to be undertaken if ergonomics are to be of use. The research undertaken is carried out on the influence of machinery, equipment design and disposition upon the comfort, health, productivity and production potential of the human operator. In order to be able to fit the person to the work better or to fit the work to the person better. To fit the work to the person more efficiently factors that need to be considered are the design of the workstation and equipment, the comfort of the working environment and the sensible organisation of the work. To better fit the person to the work factors that need to be considered are a rational personnel selection according to individual capabilities (e.g. age, constitution) and the proper instruction and training for the job.

The objective of ergonomics is to measure stress and to discover how to maximise the particular potential of human operators with the minimum amount of stress. Quite apart from moral obligations, the facts that when production conditions and equipment are designed to reduce stress in the operators then the result is generally higher productivity, greater satisfaction and a smoother pace of work. This is sometimes called humanisation of the work place.

Human Productivity.

The productivity of a person depends on his motivation and the way that he copes with stress. How a person copes with stress depends on his capability. Capability depends on education, current health, and fatigue. Fatigue may be due to physical exhaustion or to boredom both may be relieved by adequate rest periods. Frequent brief rest periods are normally planned and are included, as personal time, in the time established for a given operation.

Loading and stress.

Loading is determined by the physical nature of the work it describes the heaviness of the work. Stress is more to do with the individual response of a person to the loads imposed by a specific work environment.

Stress in a working person is analysed with respect to the loads, which are placed on different bodily functions, from various sources including loading the muscle system, loading the senses and environmental loading.

Evaluation Methods.

Ergonomics use three complementary methods for product evaluation-

-User trials

-Performance tests

-Expert appraisal

User trials are similar to the user evaluation methods in that they involve observing people while they are using a product or asking them for their opinions of the product. The methods used however are different.

Performance tests do not actually involve users, but they simulate the use of the product in some way. For instance, as apart of an evaluation of different hood-style hairdryers, the consumers association tested the drying efficiency of each modal by using it to dry a dampened wig, set on a polystyrene head. The drying efficiency was calculated by measuring the rates at which different parts of the wig dried. Performance tests are particularly useful for carrying out long, repetitive or dangerous tests. Long-term wear on chair upholstery can be simulated using machineoperated pads to mimic the body movements of someone getting in and out of a chair.

Expert appraisals are also independent of actual users and they rely on the acquired expertise and knowledge of the evaluator. In the case of a simple object such as a pair of pinking shears, a trained ergonomist would be able to identify the problems with the design and specify a reasonable first draft of a solution without conducting either user trials or performance tests.

However, the most effective approach is usually one that combines expert appraisal with actual product tests. Although tests are more time consuming and expensive to set up, they provide a valuable check on the accuracy of expert opinions and they may help to suggest further improvements.

Fluorine is a Group 17 Halogen element. Its Atomic number is and its symbol is F. Fluorine has the most tendencies to attract other elements. It is a pale yellow gas, and it isn't "found freely" in nature. The most common fluorine minerals are cryolite, fluorspar, and fluorapatite. Fluorine is also an abundant element in the Earths crust. Fluorine was discovered by Joseph Henri Moissan in 1886. The name came from the Latin word fluo(flow). Fluorine has very few uses as an element because it is much too reactive for such applications. One use, however, of elemental fluorine is in rocket fuels. The fluorine helps other materials burn. It is also used in toothpaste to make teeth strong and keep them from decaying. Fluorine is also added to water, used in refrigerators, cleaning agents, and aerosol sprays.

The property in my comic that I personified was the fact the Fluorine is used as a refrigerant, and that it attracts other elements. The girl elements to the right of the atom are attracted to Fluorine, just as it says that Fluorine has the most tendencies to attract other elements. The guy elements to the right said "He is so cool," referring to both the temperature and the social status.

The comic that I wrote was fiction but was consistent with fact. It showed Fluorine's ability to attract other elements and its ability to be cool (refrigerate).

Do my essay on Florine CHEAP !

The only thing that I would chance about my element was the fact that it could be used for two totally opposite things. First it is used for burning things, and then it is used to refrigerate things. I would change it so that it could only do one thing, so that it would be less confusing trying to understand how the element is used.

In Sandra Cisneros' One Holy Night, the narrator can be viewed in many lights because of the vague and sometimes contradictory statements made about her own feelings. However, the narrator frequently juxtaposes fact with fiction when she knows the truth about Baby Boy. This allows the reader to conclude that she is naïve and cannot or does not wish to understand the implications of her "holy night."

In the beginning of the story the narrator reflects on Baby Boy and then reveals that she will tell the reader everything as it happened. Yet she already has misguided the reader by disclosing in the first lines of the story that his name is Chaq and he is from an ancient line of Mayan kings. The reader later finds out that both these assertions are fallacies. After mentioning this, the narrator immediately shares the fact about Abuelita chasing Baby Boy out of the house. The proximity of both fact and fiction in the opening paragraphs of the story immediately incite questions of the narrator's ethos.

Directly following these two statements, the narrator reassures herself that Chaq "would love me like a revolution." Yet this is proved to be untrue later in the story when Baby Boy disregards her well-being and abandons her. The narrator then discloses what Abuelita did after she found out she was pregnant. The narrator is torn between what Chaq whimsically claims and what her grandmother asserts. Because it is apparent to the reader that the grandmother is much more trustworthy than the suspected serial killer, the narrator's naivety is reflected in her inability to realize the faults of her "lover."

After her "holy night," the narrator says she "ran home hugging [herself]." This phrase suggests her insecurity as a result of Baby Boy. She does not casually walk home or at a fast pace, but runs the entire way home. Hugging oneself is a traditional way of regaining comfort after a tragedy. Many children return to this fetal position when they cry. Yet the narrator's next few lines suggest a sense of joy because she wants to shout out that she is a part of history. Later narrator finds out she will not bear a son who will "bring back the grandeur" of the Mayan people. These conflicting feelings that arise reflect that the narrator is young and does not fully understand what has happened in her life. Her feelings perpetuate the reader's sense that she is immature and only in eighth grade.

Although not a great deal of insight is given into the narrator's mentality, careful analysis of her juxtaposition of conflicting ideas illuminate the fact that she is put in an adult situation with the mind of a child.

In this essay, Im going to introduce to the reader a

topic not touched a lot because of its complexity and its

avoidance by conservative adults. This topic is, of course, Rock

Music. During one week, I looked for information in the library

Buy cheap the negative influence of rock on teenagers in jamaica. term paper

and at my house, and from the information I gathered and my one

knowledge about the topic, Im going to lead the reader to a

better understanding of Rock n Roll. I chose to do Rock music

because I can identify myself with it. Rock music is very

complex. In fact Its stylistic scope is to broad to be

encompassed by any single definition (Rock Music, Groliers,

p.1). The nearest definition suggests a kind of music that

represents and speaks for the teenage society. This music is

characterized by using a heavy beat. In this essay, Im going to

divide Rock music into four sections Rock of the 50s, of the

60s, of the 70s and of the 80s. Within these sections Im also

going to discuss several sub-topics such as famous composers and

groups, and characteristics of the music.

The first section of this essay is Rock n Roll of the

150s, when Rock n Roll was born. It emerged from rhythm and

blues, a music similar to jazz played by blacks. This kind of

music started to attract white teenagers. Disc jockey Alan Freed

was the one who introduced this music and later gave it the name

of Rock n Roll. Record companies distributed records played by

whites but composed by blacks. Whites were frustrated because

there werent any white artists and they didnt want the blacks

to be the stars until Bill Haley appeared with his Rock Around

the Clock. In this decade, Elvis Presley introduced a music that

was sexual suggestive and outraged dull adults. In time he

changed the style of the music by adopting a country and western

style and became a national hero. By the end of this decade and

the start of the next, Rock n Roll started to decline because it

was formula ridden and it was too sentimental. Teenage audiences

transferred their allegiance to Folk music.

In 16 the renewal of Rock n Roll came when The Beatles

started to play. The Beatles, for some the best rock group ever,

were from Liverpool, England. Through the 60s, The Beatles

dominated the record industries and with their dominant

instrumentation, which included electric leads, rhythm, and bass

guitar, drums and sometimes an electric organ, changed the name

of Rock n Roll to just Rock. During the 160s many other styles

of music arose from Rock like, Motown, Soul music, Jazz-rock ,

Folk-rock and others.

Folk-Rock the most appreciated of this derivations and was

first suggested by Bob Dylan. This kind of music brought to folk

music a hard beat and amplification; and to Rock, a new poetic

style. California was one of the major centers of rock activity

and experimentation during the decade. First it was characterize

for its surfing music, a very joyful music that reflected the fun

people had while surfing. The Beach Boys were the ones who

introduced this kind of music.

At the end of the century this happy kind of music changed

to a more rebellious style that was designated the name of

hippie music. Groups that played this music were Country Joe

and The Mamas and The Papas. Along with this hippie ideas

popularity of hallucinogenic drugs produced a psychedelic style

of music called Acid Rock. By the end of the 60s the

distinctions between Rock n Roll and Rock were evident. The

early instruments- saxophone, piano, amplified guitar, and drums-

had been changed to electric guitar and bass, amplified drums and

other electronic devices. Not only did the instruments change but

so did the ideas behind the music. For example, to the lyrics of

teenage love and adolescent concerns were added social

commentary, glorification of drugs and free-association poetry

(Rock Music, Groliers, p.1). Groups like The Beach Boys, Crew

Cuts and The Everly Brothers were replaced by more imaginative,

non-descriptive names groups like The Who, Jefferson Airplane,

Big Brother and Holding Company. The Who, the most famous of

these groups, were originally from England and were reknowned

because of their bizarre stage performances, they would destroy

their instruments after their performance finished. The Who was

one of the first rock groups.

In the 70s, the common barriers of rock broke into more

divisions, like hard rock and mellow rock. Hard Rock was

extremely loud and electronically amplified and Mellow Rock was

softer and with acoustic instruments. In 17, in Jamaica, a new

style of music was created called Reggae. Reggae is a mixture of

rock, soul, calypso and Latin music. The king of Reggae was Bob

Marley. Other styles more in rocks borders, since Reggae was more

latin than rock, were created in the middle of this century,

like bubble gum rock, a funny playful music directed to the

youngest fans, Punk Rock, a loud, hard rock style derived from

acid rock and marked by its extremes of costume and staging

(Rock Music, Encarta, p.1), and Heavy Metal, which continued

the approach to Acid Rock but with a simpler musical dimension

but relying upon the power of repetitiveness, loud volume, and

electronic distortion.

One famous group of Heavy Metal was Led Zeppelin, a

British group that was formed in 168 by Jimmy Page (lead

guitar), Robert Plant (lead singer), John Paul Jones (pianist and

bassist) and John Bonham (drummer). Most music of this decade was

intended to be listened to, but not to be danced. But this

intention wasnt kept by Disco music that arose in 177 and was

especially for dancing. One great group of Disco music were the

Bee Gees. Disco music was described by rock fans as mechanical,

commercial and unlyrical (which is true). At the end of this

decade, rock, again became a dominant cultural force.

The last but not least section of this essay is rock of

the 80s. At the start of this last decade, rock groups became

more production oriented, mainly because of the sudden explosion

of videos. This new sensation was a good way to sell music to

the people. Heavy metal bands were greatly pushed by videos, but

most helped were the popular performers like Michael Jackson,

Prince and Boy George. The influence of British bands of punk,

disco, reggae and pop-rock was still big in the U.S. Rock scene.

At the same time, there of nostalgia to return to the older pre

rock music, like rhythm and blues, which was suggested by played

by Elvis Costello. By the middle of the 80s, almost every

country had begun to support indigenous music, and at the end of

this a vigorous talk-song style called rap became extremely

popular among urban black teenagers (Rock Music, Encarta,

p.1.).

Rock music taught me to appreciate things in a different

way. Ive learned this since rock is not an exact science, it can

change. In fact Rock music helps me relax ( I would have been

able to finish writing this essay with rock music). After writing

this essay I have learned the origins of rock and the branches of

it, but that wasnt my intention. I wrote this essay to express

myself with it because I feel I can show myself with rock music.

I think rock has become social phenomenal.

In the story the Tortoise and the Hare which was adapted from the fable originally written by Aseop through Carolyn Quattrocki, we have a story that involves two conflicting personalities. On one hand, we have a vain rabbit named Hare who is so in love with himself, this causes him to misses the important events in life. Secondly, we have a tortoise that goes by the same name, who seems slow and prodding, but who in reality takes time to enjoy life. In the story, Tortoise challenges Hare to a race to prove his point that slow and steady wins the race while speed will not necessarily prove the victor. Tortoise, in his slow and determined way, wins the race, because he realizes that haste makes waste. While Tortoise headed steadily towards the finish line, Hare slows down to take a "snooze" and on waking, realizes he has lost the race. Tortoise is aware of the fact that reality is not always what it seems and can many times deceive a person into a wrong sense of security.

Hare is a very vain rabbit. He likes to live in the "fast lane". In his vanity, he considers himself very important. He primps in front of his mirror and continues his love affair with himself. "Hare was sure that he was the smartest, the fastest, most hansom animal in the whole forest." (Quattrocki 17). In our sped up society, many people act like the rabbit, they rush their lives to no avail. Some quit before they receive their high school diploma and end up living a life on a lower level than they had envisioned. In the process, people lose out on an honorable position and end up on the night shift making "small change". Although the real tragedy is that they lose their self respect and all that goes with it. When the Hare lost the race to an "inferior", he lost his self respect, and "woke up" with a jolt, realizing that all the primping and fast living had deceived him. He had been made a fool of. He should have known Tortoise's dictum that "haste makes waste".

Hare, in his great haste, had realized that he is far ahead in the race. He decides to slow down and relax. When the relaxation is over, so is the race, he has lost. Many people today suffer from this same malady. They fast track their career and later think that slowing down in their specific area will cause them no harm. When the slow-down is over, the realization is that, especially in today's society, technology has outstripped his now meager knowledge. Hare sees that he has lost out, due to a mental slowdown. Conversely, tortoise lives in the 'low lane'. He enjoys life, enjoys his painting and being low key. "Every afternoon, when the weather was nice, tortoise would gather up his paints and brushes, and goes out into the woods." (Quattrocki 170). Yet it is Tortoise who wins the race, because of his determination to win when it counts. This character knows that determination and consistency wins out over the proud and profane.

The Hare finally learns what Tortoise knows. It is simply that "appearances deceive and are not always based on reality". Hare thought that his speed and zip would carry him through life. "Tortoise was about to win the race, Hare could not believe it, Tortoise was crossing the finish line." (Quattrocki 18). To the contrary, speed slowed down his progress. The tortoise, in his seemingly lethargic way, perseveres and finally wins this most important race. Even today, people in their haste, overlook the obvious truths of reality and end up losing some important races. In school, some students rush through their work and therefore fail because they did not check their work. These students need to borrow a page from their counterparts, those that are methodical in their work, they check their answers and prove them to be right. Being slow, sometimes, is far better than being speedy and wrong. This is a major lesson that Hare has to learn.

Custom writing service can write essays on The tortoise teaches the Student

The Tortoise teaches Hare some important lessons. Tortoise leans that haste causes waste which in his case is a total "snooze"! He is in such a hurry that fatigue probably causes a serious slow down which allows the more even- keeled Tortoise to win. Hare also learns that to avoid a burnout, you have to slow down long enough to enjoy life. Finally, he learns that reality can be quite jarring that the appearance of a speedy rabbit is not always superior to slow prodder like Tortoise.

Period 4

During the Cold war many things were not as different as one would think. All the people that I interviewed said that things were not much different except for a few memorable times.

The first person I chose was a boy named William. He was 1 years old and he had what people called "nuke fever." He as many other people said they had to hide under their desks at school and close all of the blinds so that no light could be let in. William though took extra "precaution" which was almost absolute craziness. He had made a fallout shelter out of his ping-pong table, had food and first aid ready, and had a theory about pencils. He thought that if he put pencils all around the shelter the lead would stop the radiation from the bomb coming in and it would protect him.

The second person that I talked to was Dave Bryant. He said that he had all of the students go into the girls bathroom because that was the safest place in the school. He remembers going to bed at night petrified because he thought that he could die at any time. He also recalls his father's hate for JFK. He thinks that he was the one that started the Bay of Pigs.

Another person that I talked to was my grandma Rhoda. She remembers that when she was young they had to turn off all of the lights for the air raid drills. She said that her father had been an air raid warden. He had to go around the town and make sure if all of the peoples lights were off. If they weren't off he had to go and make sure that they turned them off immediately.

Another woman I talked to was Eunice. She was from Utah. She recalled that they frequently had to hide under the desks because they thought that the bomb could be dropped at any time.

Finally I talked to a woman named Lynn from Georgia. She said that they had only few drills. They would hide under the desks but other then that there was not much more that was done. People weren't very much concerned in Georgia as they were in other places.

Some of the people told me about the fads and fashions back then. Some things that the men wore were rolled cuffed Levis, leather dress shoes, and button up shirts. The women would wear mostly plain dresses. If you were Jewish she said that you would wear a potato sack. Some games they liked to play were kick the can, jump rope, and watched for the jolly olly man or what we call the ice cream man. Many people I talked to said that they didn't like the music that was played back then. One woman said, "our music was like watching grass grow, it sucked, I like Eminem now."

In conclusion, many people took the bomb seriously and others took at all as a joke, but most people went on with their lives like always.

Waste Minimisation

Waste is not necessarily rubbish! People dispose of material as waste only when they think it is no longer useful, or if they believe it cannot be reprocessed economically. If an ecologically sustainable future is to be assured, Australian's need to conserve all their resources, especially non-renewable resources, and energy.

On average each year, each Australian generates about 800kg of industrial, commercial and domestic waste. Most ends up in landfill sites. Potentially hazardous waste generated in the Brisbane area alone each year fills 000 trucks. In addition, there is demolition waste, radioactive waste, sewage sludge, agricultural waste, mining wastewaters, and waste of energy and water.

What is waste minimisation?

Write my Essay on Waste Management for me

Waste minimisation aims at eliminating waste before it is produced and reducing its quantity and toxicity. Waste prevention is the primary goal.

Waste includes unwanted end products of manufacturing, packaging, items of metal, paper, plastic and glass, chemical substances, and vegetable and garden waste. Pollution of water, and air and land occurs from the production and disposal of wastes. Indirectly, humans also generate toxic and hazardous waste through the use of everyday items like detergents, solvents, pesticides and bleached paper.

Better planning and management can minimise the need for landfill waste disposal.

Why minimise waste?

A combination of world population increase and high consumption of products in the developed world has created a global waste problem. Affluence has created effluence. The rate of waste generation is now estimated to be greater than the capacity of the environment to absorb.

In John Hersey's novel, Hiroshima, he follows the accounts of six people before, immediately after and long-term actions of the people when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. One person whose accounts he followed was Dr. Terufumi Sasaki. Dr. Terufumi Sasaki was a young surgeon at the Hiroshima Red Cross Hospital during the time of the bomb drop. He was only twenty-five years old and had just completed his medical training at the Eastern Medical University in Tsingtao, China. Dr. Terufumi Sasaki was an idealist and helped people in a small town, where his mother lived, without a private medicine license. He had a strong will to help sick and injured people, which is the reason why he went into Hiroshima to work at the Hiroshima Red Cross Hospital when the atomic bomb was dropped on August 6, 145.

The morning of August 6, 145, Dr. Terufumi Sasaki was going to work at the Hiroshima Red Cross Hospital. He had got on an early train to commute to Hiroshima from Mukiahara and a streetcar to take him to the hospital. If Dr. Terufumi Sasaki had left at his normal time to go to work at the hospital that morning he would have been closer to the center of the blast than he really was. When the bomb went off over Hiroshima, Dr. Terufumi Sasaki was 1,650 yards from the bomb's epicenter. He reported the chief surgeon when he went to the hospital and then went to get a patient's blood sample for a Wassermann test. As Dr. Terufumi Sasaki was heading down the main corridor to the third floor of the hospital, the atomic bomb detonated. He was one step past the windows in the corridor when the bomb flash reflected into the corridor. Dr Terufumi Sasaki dropped to one knee and said, "Sasaki, gambare! Be brave!"(14) The blast from the bomb ripped through the hospital, causing Dr. Terufumi Sasaki's glasses and slippers to fly and the blood sample to crash against the wall. Thinkin that the bomb had only hit the hospital Dr. Terufumi Sasaki started to bandage up the nurses and the other surgeons in the hospital not knowing that many of Hiroshima's citizens were making their way to be treated a the hospital.

Dr. Terufumi Sasaki was busy taking care of the hospital staff's injuries when hundreds of Hiroshima's citizens started to pour into the hospital. Dr. Terufumi Sasaki was the only uninjured person in the hospital. Out of thirty doctors in the hospital only six were able to work and only ten out of over two hundred nurses were able to work. As Dr. Sasaki was treating the victims in the hospital he noticed that the hospital was increasingly getting more crowded. He later realized that injured citizens were piling into the hospital. Dr. Sasaki took a pair of glasses from an injured nurse and used them to be able see a little better while treating the victims of the bomb blast. As the day progressed more and more bomb victims came to the hospital to receive treatment. The doctors and nurses who were busy treating the victims started to skip over the slightly injured and went directly to the heavily injured people. As the day continued Dr. Sasaki quit working as a professional surgeon but as "an automaton, mechanically wiping, daubing, winding, wiping, daubing, winding." (6) At one point the nurses and the doctors tried to go outside and take a break from the work, at this time the staff had been working for over ten hours straight. Eventually other doctors, nurses, and materials were sent to the hospital to help the staff that was already working in the hospital. Dr. Terufumi Sasaki stayed and helped at the hospital until the majority of the victims were taken care of.

Dr. Terufumi Sasaki went to get his private medical license to start a private clinic in Mukiahara. It took him ten years to go through school to get his license. Once he got his license he went to the Bank of Hiroshima to start a clinic. At first he could not get his loan, but eventually he got his loan and built his clinic. As the years passed he built many services to help the people in Mukiahara. He was criticized for developing all of the services. People thought he was creating them for his own personal gain. Dr. Terufumi Sasaki saw the destruction that the atomic bomb created and helped the people of Hiroshima survive the incidents. He followed in his grandfather's steps and started a private clinic in Mukiahara. He survived the atomic and lived to tell his tale many people through the times that have passed.

We learn from document (a),written by a petty tradesman, that people in Germany were starving, -"…I made a living like a peddler…"-,and cause of this famine were the taxes, inflation imposed by the communist government that as doc. (a) says "deprived me of all means of livelihood', also this man of the document ,like many other mans in the same conditions, was a soldier that fought in front line during the ww1 and be treated like this now ,after they defended their country so bravely, is to them unacceptable.

So this class needed employment ("I moved to Shoenbeck where unemployment forced me on the dole") and Hitler's government promised them a job as the 7th point of the German Worker's party (GWP) says' we demand that the first priority of the state is to ensure that its citizens have a job and decent life' and this was very attractive in an unemployment and starvation period! Also we understand that the problem of the food was very big and the Nazis party pretended back their colonies and promised to do efforts to "…provide food for our nations and settlement areas of population surplus " ;we can also say that as a reaction to the horrible way of life in that time ,people started to be afraid of communism ,afraid and irritated against this government that kept them unemployed and starving, so the normal instinct they had was to vote for a party at the extreme opposite. At last but not least point we have the national pride that during that time was under their shoes and is vital for a citizen to be proud of his country, to hope that his country would become the best..so they needed national pride?..and Hitler promised them national pride.."a number of us welcomed the patriotic groups, particularly those of the Hitler movement".

Other reasons for the great number of supporters of the nazi party are suggested by source (b) written by a PHYSICIAN!

Is always important to underline the author of the source because it gives us an idea about the category of people to which the party talked to! In this case we have a Physician, representing the higher class and the culturally elevated one, previously we had a petty tradesman representing more the lower classes; so we see that the extreme right party had for target more than one category of people! Butt to attract to attract a certain class…we need someone from the same class and this is well explained in source (b) because our physician went to a meeting where Dr Ley (so another scientist) "gave remarkable analysis of governmental responsibility for the plight of Germany, at the same time outlining the aims and purposes of National Socialism" and the words of this person of such a high culture where so well said "that he seemed to be expressing my own thoughts and desires"; and this is precisely what you need during the election period so with no delay our physician as many other scientists like him joined with no delay the party. So we have underlined this technique of the nazi party that consisted in let the people think that that party was the one expressing their ideas instead of pushing the electors to a new way.

Help with essay on HOW THE NAZIS WERE ABLE TO ATTRACT OVER 13 MILLION VOTES IN 1932The stronger point of the Nazi party was always the enormous national pride that was in many German citizens, especially in the workers that where in the army. In source ( c ) we find a railway worker that is horrified about the idea of leaving Germany in the hands of Bolshevism because his social class (and again we find the party targeting to the different social classes) is the one that offered to the country the best soldiers and now this class is alienated from their country and this ,for him, would be a catastrophe for Germany because if the country loose his supporters…there is no more country! So the socialist slogan "workers of the world unite " made no sense for them; but ,instead, attracted him very much the promises of the Nazi party of a community of blood ,meaning all from the same country (and here it refers basically to the first 10 points of the GWP) and also of course the "barring of all class struggle' attracted him very much too because his class ,the workers one, is one more hit by this struggle who is talking about.

In source (d) we have some motivations about how could the anti-Semitic aspect of the nazi party be a good thing for some people!

The Jews where the ones who practically owned the money because they where traders and business mans so they gained fortunes, and often farmers , when they had a bad year, they asked them to borrow money with astronomic interests so the debt became bigger and bigger month after month ; in that period ,just after the war, many people where in this condition so they had all motivation to approve the 4th point of the programme of the GWP about considering Jews as strangers and chase them from the country!

And here source (d) is written by a farmer so someone of a high class because a farmer ,in period of war, could gain an enormous fortune because during the war the prices for goods rises steeply. We know that the writer of source (d) is not ignorant because the document says "I left the gymnasium…" so he has a certain instruction and this give more credibility to doc.(d).

In the second part of the source the author is very in favour of another important point of the National socialism the stop to the class struggling and so stop the prejudices of the lower classes concerning the upper ones.

There is another aspect of the NS party that I haven't developed but that emerge from source (e)the leader of the party; to attract people doing promises is never enouth,we also have to give an image to the Party you represent , and the image of the Nazi one is Adolf Hitler!!

Is the image that the people of all social levels needed to see a proud ,strong, virile man capable to gain respect ,capable to rule a strong nation and a strong army!! This is what source (e) is talking about, a man able to give the citizens their pride back, but most important a man that could represent the ENTIRE nation, a man who is a soldier, a worker, a politician…someone who had the same experience of the citizens and so able to understand them and give them what they need! People felt that Hitler was very near to them!--"Hitler you are our man, you speak as a soldier of the front and as a man you know the grind you have been a worker man; you have lain in the mud EVEN AS WE-no big shot but unknown soldier"'and people in Germany where sure that he was the correct man to rule the country and he couldn't do nothing than bring good things"For your innermost heart will not let you do otherwise"'

Source (f) remember how Germany was strong long time ago and how unconquerable Germany was when was strongly unified, and this was the secret of national socialism.

Germany had suffered a lot in the past and the will to come back stronger than before was very strong in Germans heartssource (g)"As a result of lesson of history and my own experience both during and before the war I became National Socialist."

Like this ,for a combination of all those reasons that I gave in the elections of 1 the Nazi party ruled by Hitler was able too attract over 1.000.000 votes!

If I were a cultural relativist, I would tell Protagoras that he must abide by his society's law as it is what the majority of his society believes, making the law to torture his sister to death to be the true way he must deal with his sisters promiscuity. As the Adberan society is his culture, I would, as a Cultural Relativist, adivse Protagoras that he must accept his culture's values and traditions and abide by them, putting aside his individual differences. If Protagoras is a member of the Adberan society, then he must accept their cultural values. According to Aberan culture, is it morally right for Protagoras to torture and murder his sister because she committed promiscuous behaviour which is fornwed upon by the majority of society, therefore as a Cultural Relativist, I would advise Protagoras to accept the law, and then he will not be considered immoral by his society for disobeying his culture. If he wants to maintain a position within his society, then Prodagoras should agree with them, as moral values demonstrate a connection to his community, which, ultimately, is his identity. As a Cultural Relativist, I would tell Protagoras to stop and think about the positives and negatives that will arise from his actions. For example, if he murders his sister, he will lose a beloved family member, but will gain social acceptance and happiness, not only for himself but also for every other person in his family, so I would ask him if losing one family member is worth gaining happiness for everyone else?
